Accounting Technician Certificate - Year 1

Introduction

The Accounting Technician course is a professional qualification providing participants with a highly regarded qualification that enhances their career prospects.

As a graduate of this course, you will:

  • Hold qualifications relevant to business, industry, private practice and the public sector
  • Possess valuable skills appropriate for a variety of careers including Accounts Assistant, Audit Assistant, Credit Controller, Payroll Assistant and Stock Controller.
  • Have a good understanding of the principles of financial and management accounting, taxation and business management
  • Possess practical and management skills necessary for the workplace
  • Build your communication and management skills

Career Opportunities

Accountint Technicians are highly regarded professionals equipped to work in a wide range of roles including book-keeping, accounts receivable/payable, payroll, VAT, credit control and assistant accountant.

Employers understand the benefits of recruiting qualified personnnel and there is strong demand for qualified and part qualified technicians.

Assessment and certification

Students take examinations in May each year. Repeat sittings are taken in August. All examinations are set and graded independently of the Institute by Accounting Technicians Ireland.

Exam results are generally available in early July (May sitting) and late September (August sitting) and are sent directly to the student by Accounting Technicians Ireland.

On passing all Certificate (Year 1) examinations, students are awarded the Certificate for Accounting Technicians.

Entry Requirements

Applicants aged 20 or younger must have five passes (5 O6/H7)  (including English and either Maths or Accounting) on Ordinary Level papers or four passes including two higher level subjects (passes to include Maths or Accounting at either level).

These entry criteria do not apply to mature students aged 21 or older. 
 

Mature Students (Over 21)

May apply on the basis of maturity and experience.

Monday

  • 6:30 pm-8:15 pm - Financial Accounting
  • 8:15 pm-10:00 pm - Taxation

 

Tuesday

  • ​6:30 pm-8:00 pm - Law and Ethics
  • 8:00 pm-9:30 pm - Business Management

Further information on the qualification, text books and professional and examination fees is available in the downloadable Accounting Technician Ireland Prospectus 2016-17 - the fee for 2016/17 is €730 covering class materials (texts/online resources), examinations and student membership of Accounting Technicians Ireland.

Online registration with ATI is available from June 2016 and you can pay for examinations, student registration and text books in instalments.

 

Additionally Open Evenings, advice and registration in person will take place on Monday 5 and 12 and Tuesday 20 September 2016  5pm-8pm.

Attendance

Term will commence on Monday 26 September 2016 and run for twenty five academic weeks.

Tuition

€625 tuition payable to BFEI

Additional charge €730 payable to Accounting Technicians Ireland re class materials (texts/oline resources), examination fees and student membership of Accounting Technicians Ireland.
