Digital Publishing and Creative Writing Course - Dublin

At BFEI located in Blackrock village, Co. Dublin we offer a QQI Level 5, one year Digital Publishing and Creative Writing course.

Are you interested in creative writing? Have you ever thought about publishing your own work? Would you like to understand the process involved in content layout, image editing, self-publishing and how to devise a digital marketing strategy? This course will provide you with the knowledge, skills and confidence to understand the process involved in creative writing and digital publishing. 

Learn a wide range of beginner and intermediate publishing and digital marketing concepts, including how to use InDesign, edit images in Photoshop, create interactive PDFs, EPUB files and other digital editions of your work.

Many businesses are moving publishing material to the Internet, so skills in digital publishing are required. Electronic book and magazine publishing are growing segments in the field of digital publishing with the popularity of eBooks increasing.

Office 365 and Adobe Creative Cloud licences are provided free of charge for use on personal devices.

Assessment and certification

This course is certified by QQI.
Assessment is based on a combination of assignments and exams.
Learners who successfully complete this course will be awarded a QQI Level 5 Certificate in Creative Media (5M5048).

Entry Requirements

  • Leaving Certificate

You must have achieved 5 passes or 5 O6/ H7s or a combination of 5 O6/H7s or have achieved the LCA with a Merit profile, or have achieved a full relevant QQI Level 4 Award.

  • Mature Applicants

Mature applicants (aged 21 and over) and other applicants without the formal entry requirements will be assessed individually for suitability.

Advisory Meeting

Applicants will be invited to attend an advisory meeting to offer guidance and to ensure course suitability. Information on course costs and the registration/induction process will also be provided at this meeting. 

Places will be offered, on a first come basis, subject to the applicant meeting the entry requirements and subject to a place being available. 


At course commencement, students are required to pay for books, exams, €200 PLC Government Levy (unless exempt), a Student Services fee and where applicable professional body registration fees.  There are no tuition fees for EU students.
