ITEC Diploma in Holistic Massage

Introduction

Study for the ITEC Diploma in Holistic Massage and acquire a recognised qualification to pursue a new career.

The ITEC Diploma is a professional qualification in holistic massage, a form of Swedish massage. The course incorporates the practical skills to work as a masseuse, including:

  1. Anatomy and Physiology - ITEC Unit 1
  2. Holistic Massage - ITEC Unit 2
  3. Professional Conduct and Business Awareness - - ITEC Unit 22

 

Students will attend on Monday and Tuesday nights 6:30pm-9:30pm for 22 academic weeks. Completion of the course requires undertaking a portfolio of case studies and end of year practical and multiple choice examinations.

A commitment to achieve a minimum attendance of no less than 80% of all taught classes is required. Applicants who do not adhere to the attendance criteria may not be registed to sit the ITEC examinations.

Course Structure

This course is run over one academic year of 22  weeks duration. Leading to the ITEC Diploma in Holistic Massage, the course is assessed through a combination of case studies and end of year theory and practical examinations.

The ITEC Qualification is aligned at Level 5 on the National Framework of Qualifications in Ireland.

A commitment to full attendance is required of candidates who register for this course.

Learners are prepared for the following:

  • Monday - 6:30pm-9:30pm - Body Massage (Unit 2)
  • Tuesday - 6:30pm-9:30pm - Anatomy and Physiology (Unit 1)/Professional Practice (Unit 22)

Assessment and certification

Candidates are assessed through a combination of case studies and examinations.

Each candidate completes a portfolio of 10 case studies, each of which involves completoing a consultation, a treatment and an after care assessmnet.

There are three multiple choice  theory examinations:

  • Anatomy and Physiology
  • Body Massage
  • Professional Conduct and Business Awareness

Aditionally, students take a Preliminary and a Final Practical Body Massage examination.

Please note that examinations are undertaken in conjunction with the full time day students' timetables. Typically assessment is completed by the third week of May each year.

Education/ Training

Graduates who complete this course may apply to the following course in BFEI:

Graduates of this programme may wish to pursue further studies. The full time day programmes in Health and Wellbeing at Blackrock Further Education Institute may be of particular interest.

Having undertaken studies in Anatomy and Physiology and Professional Practice, you may wish to continue pursuing ITEC qualifications in other areas for example  Aromatherapy or Indian Head Massage.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements though you are encouraged to consult the Institute to ensure the course is suitable.

Course Fees

Tuition €575 payable to register and prior to class commencement.

ITEC examination fee €115 payable by 31 January 2019.
