The Pre-University Arts & Social Science course at BFEI has been hugely beneficial to me. After a turbulent Leaving Cert year, I was extremely nervous and anxious about commencing college. I decided to defer my CAO place and apply to BFEI. The BFEI course was extremely eye-catching due to the wide range of subjects taught. Subjects such as Political Studies and Social Studies, helped me to recognise and think about society in a completely different way, while other subjects such as Research and Study Skills allowed me to adjust to the way of learning that is expected at 3rd level. I found that this course allowed me to mentally prepare for 3rd level education instead of being thrown into the deep end. Having completed the course, I felt prepared and excited about going to college. I’m now in first year of a BA in English and Geography at UCD and feel that the year in BFEI has given me an excellent foundation as I am used to independent study, referencing, and reading a broad range of material.
