Introduction

At BFEI located in Blackrock village, Co. Dublin we offer a one year, QQI Level 5 Pre University Creative Media – Morning course.

Do you feel that the roles you are doing in your business or organisation require more skills in Social Media content development? Do you see yourself working in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or similar areas, working with Social Media content design? Do you feel you could create the content yourself but just don’t have the skills?

BFEI recently has had numerous requested to develop a course that teaches the fundamental and practical skills required to get your content, or your client’s content, online and looking professional. Due to this unprecedented demand we have responded and are now delighted to offer places on our NEW course Pre University Creative Media. You will learn all the industry standard skills required to design and develop engaging and professional social media content suitable for all the social media platforms. We take a highly practical approach to teaching and learning with all course material and assessment modelled on industry practices and ‘real life’ projects.

  • Free Full Suit of Adobe Software for all students for one year.
  • Fees including exam fees and are €440 for one year.
  • Mornings only classes.

Career Opportunities

Job opportunities exist in all areas of business requiring social media content, also within specialist social media and web design companies. There is also a range of exciting opportunities available in areas such as advertising, marketing, communications, publishing, digital design, education and training.

Course Structure

The Pre University Creative Media course is structured so that the student will develop expertise in three related areas: Social Media, Digital Media and Web Design. This course will equip participants with the skills to:

  • Understand the theory and principles of social media and advertising, focusing an all the social media platforms: Instagram, Facebook, twitter etc and all other traditional advertising mediums.
  • Create interactive, animated, social media content using 2D animation software (Adobe Animate).
  • Design engaging, professional social media ads and campaigns using industry standard image editing software (Adobe Photoshop), design logos and user interface elements with vector graphics (Adobe Illustrator).
  • Plan, design, and build websites based on the fundamental principles of usability, accessibility, and search engine optimisation.
  • Learn the principles of graphic design, specialising in online content.
  • Experience working in small teams - developing and designing a social media campaign.
  • Get your career started by engage in meaningful work experience, create a professional CV, learn and practise your interview skills.

Assessment and certification
  • You will be awarded a QQI Level 5 Certificate in Creative Media (5M5048).
  • The qualification is certified by QQI.

Entry Requirements

  • Leaving Certificate

​You must have achieved 5 passes or 5 O6/ H7s or a combination of 5 O6/H7s or have achieved the LCA with a Merit profile, or have achieved a full relevant QQI Level 4 Award.
 

  • Mature Applicants

Mature applicants (aged 21 and over) and other applicants without the formal entry requirements will be assessed individually for suitability.

 

You should have an aptitude for creativity and design and a keen interest in various media formats.

Application Process

Places will be offered, on a first come basis, subject to the applicant meeting the entry requirements and subject to a place being available.  Apply on-line for free.

Fees

At course commencement, students are required to pay for books, exams, €200 PLC Government Levy (unless exempt), a Student Services fee and where applicable professional body registration fees.  There are no tuition fees for EU students.
