CROCHET CLASSES for beginners and improvers

In this beginner’s and improvers course I will introduce students to a variety of skills tailored to their experience level. In this class you can learn a new craft in a relaxed atmosphere and discover the therapeutic benefits of crochet. My name is Sandra O’Connor, I have worked in fashion design for many years, I would love to introduce you to the world of crochet and teach you how to design your own projects, garments, accessories.
Beginners will learn the following.
Basic crochet stitches
How to read and follow charts/patterns.
How to read a yarn band and how to choose the right one for your project.
How to fix mistakes
Finding resources patterns, tutorials, and yarn
At the end of this course, you will be able to read a beginner’s crochet pattern and even many intermediate ones, while having fun along the way.
Improvers will learn the following.
Advanced stitches
working in rounds
Pattern/ graph reading
shaping and texturing
project diversity. encouragement to start more ambitious projects.
Materials required.
Beginners:
In the first class we will discuss which wool and hook to buy. If you have some already at home bring them with you. I will have some that you can use on the night.
Improvers
Bring along your wool hooks and any project you have on the go.

Welcome to my world of creativity and style, I’m Sandra O’Connor, a passionate fashion designer whose journey has led me to specialise in a particular charming niche, Crochet. I’ve worked with renowned brands like Avoca and Castle knitwear. And I've had the incredible opportunity to travel while learning my trade. I’m also an artist and teacher. Teaching has allowed me to foster a sense of community and empowerment and to help all my students unravel their creative possibilities. Whether we’re creating cosy blankets, stylish accessories or winter woollies, I’m here to help you bring life to your creativity.

· Crochet yarn and hooks
· Crochet abbreviations (differences in US/UK terms)
· How to make a slip knot
· How to make a chain stitch
Week 2
· Introduction to double crochet (UK) and turning chain.
· Project discussion and how to make a tension square.
Week 3
· Keeping crochet work in rows straight
· Introducing treble crochet (UK)
· Revising our projects
Week 4
· Joining yarn
· Learn how to read a pattern.
· Introduction to crochet graphs
Week 5
· Introduction to crochet motifs
· Working rounds and working with a slip stitch
Week 6
· Working on projects
· Class discussion – questions and answers
Week 7
· Making a bobble
· Revise class project for completion
· How to finish and sew end of yarns
Week 8
· Completion of class projects
· Questions and answers
