Menopause & Movement - 10-Week Strength & Wellbeing Programme for Women

Suitable for all women approaching, experiencing, or post-menopause. No fitness experience required.

Menopause & Movement is a practical, supportive 10-week programme designed to help women feel stronger, more energised, and more confident during the menopause transition.
Each weekly session combines banded resistance training, practical education, and time for Q&A, all delivered in a friendly, encouraging environment.

 

What You Will Learn & Do

1. Understanding Menopause
Explore the key physical changes during menopause, including:

Hormone and metabolism changes
Bone health and muscle mass
Joint and cardiovascular health
Sleep, mood, and energy

2. Strength Training for Menopause
Each week includes a guided training session using resistance bands to help you:

Build muscle mass and strength
Support bone density
Improve joint stability
Boost energy, balance & confidence

All levels welcome - exercises are adapted to each participant.

3. Lifestyle Strategies That Make a Difference
Learn simple, sustainable tools for:

Stress management
Sleep hygiene
Recovery and daily movement
Nutrition basics to support midlife health

 

About Your Instructors

Aoife, Sports Science Research Master's student (UCD), is passionate about female sport and helping women feel their best. Her approach is research-led, supportive, and designed to help every woman feel strong, capable, and informed.

Dr. James Timmons is an NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) with over 15 years’ experience across high-performance sport and clinical settings. His work now focuses on exercise and nutrition strategies to improve body composition and physical function in older adults as well as supervising research on the role of exercise in women’s health across the lifespan, including a major mixed-methods project investigating how exercise influences physical and mental health outcomes in women experiencing menopausal symptoms.

Materials: Resistance bands provided for use in class.

Resistance bands will be provided for use during the course. After Week 1, participants will be encouraged to purchase their own bands for home practice and continued training between sessions (optional, at their own additional cost).
