On the 2nd of February 2025, I, along with seven other BFEI students travelled to Malaga, Spain on an Erasmus+ work experience placement.  Malaga, a city of stunning sights and incredible food welcomed us with open arms.  The main reason for the trip was to gain a European work experience placement - we did that and we did so much more!  We explored Malaga’s amazing coastline and its many different museums – it was an utterly memorable trip!

Durning my time in Malaga, I worked in a place called Centro de Education Infantile Duendecillos.  In this creche, I was responsible for organising and helping with the children’s activities. For example, on Valentine’s Day, I helped them draw pictures of their families with love hearts and balloons. The children enjoyed different activities each day, like music on Tuesday and English on Wednesdays. They were amazing!

The 8 of us from the College did lots of activities together and separately.    One of the highlights of our trip was a sunset cruise where we enjoyed the views from the ocean as the sun was setting.

Some of our group visited a town outside of Malaga called Nejra. We had a great time there! We went to the caves, which were stunning, and got to know each other a little bit better. Some of us went to the Illusion Museum which was awesome. There were so many cool illusions to interact with.

Looking back on my Erasmus experience in Malaga, I’m happy to report that it was an amazing experience.  The staff at my workplace were lovely and we got great support from European Era. I am so grateful to have been given the opportunity to participate in Erasmus+ in Blackrock Institute this year!
